"Children grow in self-confidence when parents role model self-reliance and self-responsibility"

                                                                               Dr.Tony Humphreys

Most parents want their children to become independent and well adjusted young adults, but the bigger question is how to achieve this aim. In reality, parents can only bring about in their children the same level of development and maturity that they have managed to bring about in themselves.

All parents strive to do their best, but most receive no preparation for the enormous task of accompanying a child who starts out from a place of utter dependence to achieving a state of independence and self-reliance.

Parent Mentoring provides parents with the opportunity to reflect on their own relationship with self and develop the knowledge and skills necessary to begin to role model for their children what it means to be independent and self-reliant.

My aim is to support parents:

- To use affirmation and praise in a way that raises their child's self-esteem

- To make their child's learning a more positive experience

- To improve communication and relationships within the family

- To realise that their child's behaviour always makes sense

- To begin to understand and help the child who is troubled
